The Copper Larder

Proper British cooking, without the fuss.

We cook what the season hands us — good meat from farms we know by name, veg pulled that morning, nothing dressed up to look like something it isn’t. It’s the kind of food this city grew up on, done properly and put down in front of you without ceremony.

THE SHORT VERSION

A Small Kitchen. A Simple Idea.

Good food doesn’t need to shout.

Copper pendant lights hanging low over the dining room

We opened on Brindley Place with a simple idea: modern British food doesn’t need to shout to be worth a look. Good bread, honest butchery, veg from growers we actually know by name — that’s most of the job done before anyone picks up a pan.

A long reclaimed oak table set for a meal

The dining room sits low and warm against the canal, copper pendant lights over reclaimed oak tables, the pass in full view so you can watch the chaos turn into supper. It’s unfussy on purpose — somewhere for a first date, a Tuesday catch-up, or a proper Sunday roast that runs long.

We’re a small kitchen, which means the menu moves with the seasons rather than a marketing calendar. Ask what’s good today — we’ll tell you straight.

Kind Words

What People Say

“The braised feather blade nearly had me asking for the recipe out loud. Proper, unhurried, and the room's lovely at dusk.”
